Designed to expand a historic home to accommodate a growing family - the design was presented to meet restrictions of the neighborhood's historic covenants along with the Landmarks Commission's structures. Much of the expansion was made into the backyard and upstairs, rendering the street view mostly unaltered. The program was to create a master suite, and a 2-bedroom, one-bath wing while expanding the floorplan to accommodate open floorplan living. We also created a better connection to the backyard offering greater opportunities for outdoor living. The upstairs master bedroom overlooking the backyard and modern warm finishes with some industrial steel and vaulted ceiling created a magnificent living space.
